The Tree of Jeeff
The ancestral genealogy of Jeffrey Duskin
While the purpose of this site is to freely share information with others, I have discovered that multiple individuals have been copying and pasting photos and pages from this site to commercial sites such as Ancestry. While I can control content changes on this site, I have no ability to correct errors in poached information that might continue to be associated to me, not to mention the violation of terms of use of those sites. Co., Ohio Census:
Occupation: Steve was a coal miner, moving his family often between 1908 and 1920 following mining work. In about 1908 they moved from Pennsylvania to Dawson Twp. in the New Mexico Territory. They spent brief periods of time in Oregon, near Salt Lake City, Utah and in Bettendorf, Iowa, returning often to New Mexico before settling near Zanesville, Ohio in 1920 and turning to farming. Religion: Catholic; member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio The genesis of the
Seibert surname for this family is unknown for sure, but likely bad
interpretation during immigration. Steve had brothers who
lived in Pennsylvania and used the surnames Sible & Saybel.
I've been aware of & corresponded with some of the Saybels for
several years. Recent genealogical research done after being contacted
by a (at that time) potential Sible cousin in 2025, coupled with DNA
linkage to another Sible cousin led to the older brother, who I was
aware of, but attributed to an incorrect surname. All Steve's' siblings immigrated later than
Steve, in fact Steve & Dora had left Pennsylvania for New Mexico
before any of them arrived. Further work has led to the discovery
that Steve had 2 uncles who had immigrated to Fayette Co. in the 1880s,
both using the surname Sebell, as well as identifying Jacob's father and
2 other sisters. I have also found many more people in the Fayette
Co. area with suspiciously similar sounding surnames who could
potentially be related too, so there's more detective work to come.
