Thomas was born Thomas Morgan in Wales. He is purported to have been involved in the regicide of King Charles I in 1649 and changed his name to Carrier after fleeing to America. More details are available at his wife, Martha's Wikipedia page. Martha was tried for witchcraft during the Salem hysteria, found guilty & hanged on August 19, 1692.
